When Irene Casapulla performed her musical parody, "Sittin' in a House By the Sea, Parts 1 & 2 " at the 2005 Costume Gala, Dark Shadows Hollywood Weekend... it BLEW me away!

Later that evening, I spoke with Irene, gave her my card for Shadows on the Web, and expressed interest in publishing her parody on the website.

I was delighted when she emailed with the parody.

It pleases me to announce that

Irene Casapulla,

is now a member of

Shadows on the Web's

" Shadow Writers Society".

I encourage all writers of gothic poetry, prose, songs, limericks, etc, to submit your works to Shadows on the Web.

Here is this GEM for all to ENJOY!!!!

Cheers... Irene!!!

 JULIA'S DITTY

They mentioned the Dr. as Julius,
But then I caught Dan's eye.
He said, "Look at that face,
 it must have a place...
No one will notice she's no longer a guy.
 Now I'm a'workin' in a cellar deep,
Teaching a monster how to speak.....
Oooo...My electric bills are might steep!
In the Old House cellar deep.

(Bridge)

Wyncliff is one hundred miles away.
But escapees can walk it in a day!
Security never gets in the way!
But they all turn out okay.
So I follow Barnabas thoughout time.
And help cover up all sorts of crime.
For the Collin's name and fame to last
The problems must be solved in the past.
So I'm still workin' in a cellar deep
Tryin' hard to keep the secrets I keep.
Ooooo...A doctor with a new attitude
 Here in Collinwood.

(Words sung to the tune of the whistling part
 of the song, "Follow")

 And it's no joke-
 I'm fast with a poke,
 If they're hurt
 or they're sad,
 give a sedative.
 And it's no lie,
I'm in love with the guy,
 And a permanent guest
 here at Collinwood!

 ANGELIQUE'S STORY

 Left my home in Martinique.
Sailed in as a Ladie's Maid.
 Then I cast a spell,
 made Josette & Jeremiah
Fall in love and run away.
Now I'm sittin' in a house by the sea
With my spells and potions all around me.
Oooooo...Just a poor girl who made it good
 Living here in Collinwood.

 (Bridge)

In Salem, Miranda was my name.
Judah Zachary was my claim to fame.
 After our falling out,
 my future was quite bleak.
So I was reborn as Angelique.

 That's where my tale began.
Still schemin' for my perfect man.
I've done most of the Collin's clan
 In this "Witches Protection Plan"!
Now I'm still sittin' in a house by the sea.
I could be Cassandra or Valerie.
 Oooooo...Depending on the century
 Here in Collinwood.

 (Words to whistling tune)

If only "B" could really love me,
 The suffering would end,
 and he was warned!
 He shot me dead,
 shoulda aimed for the head!
Hell hath not as much fury,
 as a witch who's scorned!

(Words are sung to the tune of the song,
"Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay")

 MAGGIE'S CONFUSION

I was workin' in a Coffee Shop.
They made me wear a silly blonde wig.
Livin' in an artist's cottage with Pop.
Without the wig, I made it big.
As innocent and calm as I seem,
I still give out the very best scream!
 Since Victoria went away
I'm here in Collinwood to stay.

 (Bridge)

That music box really cramped my style.
Made me become Josette for a while.
Then Willie's LOVE turned out to be soooo good.
He brought me back to the neighborhood.
Now all the men are in love with me....
 Includin' Joe, Barnabas, and Willie.
I've got a little of Josette in me.
I know that you will all agree.
 Lookin' out on Widow's Hill.
Be careful or you could take a spill.
But even if you did you would still
Haunt the ins and outs of Collinwood.

 (Words to whistling portion)

I'm so confused over who I should choose
When the Vampire's bite takes away my will.
 It's Joe I'm datin',
 but I keep on debatin'
 When Barnabas calls,
 I get such a chill!

LAURA'S SONG OF THE PHOENIX

 I always marry a Collins
 No matter what the century.
 Just flew in from Phoenix
Makin' sure my precious urn is with me.

 Now I'm a-waitin' in a fishin' shack
Callin' to David to come on back.
When it comes to fire I have such a knack!
 My abilities are pretty whack!

 (Bridge)

And when I burn I disappear awhile.
When I return, I always am in style.
I climb a rung on the Collin's Family Tree
Cause I am "HOT" in the Third Degree!

I make them think I lost my way.
But you know that I'm not here to stay.
I just want my children with me
 To be happy through eternity.

So now I'm burnin' in a fishin' shack
In a hundred years, I'll be comin' back!
When it comes to fire I have such a knack!
Whether I'm in Egypt or in Collinwood.

 (Words to Whistling Tune)

 I take my chances,
 the fire enhances
My natural beauty when I arise.
I rise from the ashes with silky eyelashes
A Phoenix with Collinwood Family Ties!

 CAROLYN'S TALE

As a Stoddard I have lots of Cha-Ching...
As Pansy Fay I just love to sing.
 I'm gonna dance for you
Then you won't feel so blue.

I'm so wealthy but I don't put on airs.
I just love to toss my gorgeous blonde hair.
To men I am just "fairer-than-fair"
Livin' life large with hardly a care.

 (Bridge)

Elopement with Buzz just didn't work.
Then I became quite obsessed with Burke.
I never had desire to behave.
Till Cousin Barnabas made me his slave.

Adam wanted me to stay by his side.
Evil Eve he just could not abide.
But it wasn't til' Jeb arrived
That I gave it up and became a bride.

Let's go drink & dance at the "Blue Whale"
Where the rich & poor all go without fail.
 The only place in Collinsport
Where you can meet people of every sort.

 (Words to Whistling tune)

I'm never lazy, sometimes I go crazy.
My Dad sold my soul to Leviathins.
 But Jeb didn't do it.
 He couldn't go through it.
My beauty & hair saved me once again!

 FINALE

So if you love the Gramma-phone
And you can walk here from the Old House alone...
Just knock on the Mansion Door...
And you can be a guest forevermore.

Just sittin' on the Velvet Settee...
Drinkin' Edward's brandy or Naomi's sherry...
 Or maybe Mrs. Johnson's tea...
 Here in Collinwood.

 (Bridge)

I know I've missed a slew of stars today....
If I had the time, I could sing all day!
You know that in our hearts,
we all do hold them dear...
And we can sing about them next year!

(Whistling tune while going off stage)
