I was inspired to write this poem after viewing, "House of Dark Shadows" at the 2004 DS Weekend. This was the first time I had viewed it along with "Night of Dark Shadows". In 2004, I obtained copies of both films on VHS to screen again.

The complex relationship between Barnabas Collins and Julia Hoffman is quite captivating.

They really put the 'FUNC'

 in... dysfunctional!

I DEEPLY regret never having the opportunity to meet

 Grayson Hall,

 " Dr. Julia Hoffman"

( My favorite DS character! )

Grayson was indeed a pivotal character actress,

with a 'one-of-a-kind' voice!

She will forever be endeared and appreciated for her work.

Light of Day

Julia gazes at Barnabas

This tragic and unrequited love

Her devotion to him, reigns so true

As bright as the stars that shine above

Barnabas, so desperate and weary

Longing to see the light of each new day

Though he loves fair Maggie, it’s Julia’s faith

That will sustain him throughout this, come what may

Neither knows how long they can endure

This painful, wicked game of the heart

When jealousy rears its ugly head

Determined to tear their lives apart

Still, they will prevail in their endeavour

For Barnabas’ own mortality

In reality, they soon discover

How sadly they lost their mentality
