"Angelique, we cannot love at will... any more than we can prevent our love."

Barnabas Collins

"Loves Sweet Vengeance" was first choice for title of this poem, but I nixed it.

It sounds TOO much like a "Harlequin" novel!

 GAG ME!

Love and Vengeance

Two past lovers, Barnabas and Angelique

From moonstruck dreamers to formidable foes

Far from the distant islands of Martinique

Destiny could not spare them of their woes

Angelique’s heart was badly broken

Her innocence so trashed and defile

It cries out for vengeance, unspoken

To unleash all her anger and vile

Whilst discovering that he has another love

Barnabas’ rejection, such a crushing blow

Still, having the upper hand, when push comes to shove

Conceals any humiliation that would show

Her superior skills of voodoo witchcraft

With destruction and havoc, her specialty

Angelique will be poised to give him the shaft

The ruin of Barnabas, a certainty
