As fate would have it, my'adoptive'mother, Luz Feliciano passed away on 13,August 2011. I recall how this poem touched my heart,and for someone that usually has fitting words to describe their feelings, unfortunately, I was numb with grief. Though my daughter, Millie and I were not present when Mama Luz passed away,
this beautiful poem personifies our feelings about loving and letting go.

God saw you getting tired,

and a cure was not to be.   

So he put his arms around you,

 and whispered come with me.   

With tearful eyes,   

we saw you pass away. 

Although we love you dearly,  

we could not make you stay.

 A golden heart stopped beating,

 hardworking hands at rest.  

God broke our hearts to prove to us,

 he only takes the best.
