Ode to Collinsport ("Octopus's Garden") -- First performed at the Dark Shadows Brooklyn Festival, 2003
I'd like to be in a house by the sea
In a town called Collinsport, up in Maine
It would be the norm if ev'ry night there were a storm
with lightning and thunder but no rain
Secret rooms and passageways abound
Explore with caution or you'll never be found
I'd like to be in a house by the sea
With a view of Widows' Hill--what a thrill!
In the dead of night when the moon is bright
And the werewolf's roaming through the woods again
You've no need to fear if silver is near
In the form of a bullet, pentagram, or cane
It would be a fairly common sight to see
Your incest--er, ancestors rising from their graves
I'd like to be in a house by the sea
With a view of Widows' Hill and the waves
Which ghost will speak at the séance this week?
Seems like they have one nearly ev'ry night
Supernatural foes can cause plenty of woes
But a sedative will make everything all right
When you hear all the dogs howling
You know a vampire is prowling
I would like to be in a house by the sea
In a house called Collinwood--wouldn't you?
In a house called Collinwood, oh yes it's true
In a house called Collinwood, wouldn't that be good?
